Improved trait assignment. Version 1.7.0. Clans with idle companions may create more parties. Not always, but if it makes sense. Before, they only compared companions to existing party leaders and picked the better of the two. Version 1.5.0. You can no longer hire away employed commanders, and their skill vary way more.
Like, have them all in the same division, separated from other soldiers. You can not do that, the order of battle system only has troop types to choose and sliders for numbers. Also your companions are meant to act as commanders of formations now. This doesn't make sense, especially if we talk about say surgeon or scout. If you find yourself overwhelmed by the vast world of Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord, fear not. One of the most helpful tools at your disposal is hiring companions to join your cause. These experienced warriors and skilled individuals can greatly enhance your abilities and provide invaluable support as you navigate the game.
Except in your party they dont really lead, and even mid game it is not negligible. Late game sure, money is no object. But companions are 2x to 3x a banner knight champ, and then you have to spend 400k roughly to gear them appropriately (the banner knight armor is rare too and not always available). To hire a companion, you will need to find a town large enough to have a Tavern. These will be denoted on the map as large castles with some outer walls. Double click on the town to enter, then MikO.
