In one of recent updates SCS implemented the thing when drivers in more expensive trucks earn more money. But I doubt that anyone has the actual numbers like amortization (how fast this higher earn will cover the expenses of better truck) and such. Cheapest unless you got the money to burn.
It balances a lot of things in the game relating to money. It makes damage to the load on trips significantly reduced, like 50% damaged load is only -$126 off. It makes traffic fines in general significantly reduced as well. Garages cost $18k each, upgrades cost $10k more, I think, close to that anyway. Offering your driver a 730hp 8x4 Scania doesn't make any difference from a 310hp IVECO at initial phase. Just offer them cheapest IVECO Strails, you may change painting to white and even remove front mirror while ordering them to save every penny of your budget per truck. #9. The drivers are assigned to trucks. Both started with the same level (rating 1.7) and the driver that has my old Volvo VNL with the largest possible engine and 18-speed transmission and a sleeper is not doing so well. The other driver that has a short chassis Pete 579 moved up to 2.5 rating. So I upgraded her truck with a little more powerful
